It’s been a while. I hope you’re all doing great, safe, and healthy during this pandemic. I’m doing okay, probably thinking a little too much about my life lol.
I’ve updated the About page. While writing, I started thinking about having lower standards the older I get.
Here’s a copy of what I’ve written on the page:
The older I get, the more laid back I become. Before, I would probably dismiss a story if it’s “too simple,” “not mindblowing enough,” and so on. I would be, “It’s fun but meh.” Snobbish, right? But I’ve realized that it’s not all about the complicated plots and amazing twists and turns. Sometimes, the quiet moments, the ones where I usually think that nothing happens, have the greatest impact on me. These are the scenes, the stories, that keep me entertained. I used to say that stories should have life lessons in them. The more it hurts, the closer it is to reality, the better. But these lessons don’t have to be all dry, serious, and dramatic. Sometimes, humor works well too. Or maybe, I don’t have to turn to these books and games for that because I already have too much of the dreary stuff called Real Life. Maybe what these games, manga, and novels offer is a way to step back from real life, a way to make me laugh and keep me entertained.
So lately, I’ve been reading series that is fun for me, regardless of whether they’re too silly, impossible, dramatic, you get the idea. My rule is, as long as I’m entertained, it’s good.About page
I’ve been encountering some stories that have simple stories but made me laugh out loud. I was debating whether it was a good thing or not. Should I focus more on the plot or at the execution and effects on me? Does it matter? I love laughing and enjoying the small things life has to offer and that includes works of fiction. My standards may be lower, but I’m enjoying myself, and I think that’s the most important thing.
ALRIGHT! SOME OTHER UPDATES.
I haven’t played a lot of visual novels this year. Other than being too long, I have all other stuff that I’m trying to keep up with after years of (sort of) abandoning them namely books (I’ve discovered western MM books last year, and oh boy, that opened a whole new world.) and manga. There are also tons of web novels waiting for me. Futekiya is also free for the entire May, so I’m taking advantage of that as well.
Now, I’m hopping around, trying to balance things. This is what happens when you have too much interest. It’s hard to keep up! If you have a tip or advice about managing all this stuff, feel free to leave a comment, and I’ll be grateful to you for the rest of my life.
Other than that, there’s also Animal Crossing that keeps me busy. I think I exhaust all of my measly designing skills.
Plus, on top of everything else, I’m also writing some… err, stuff.
So, yeah. I guess that’s about it for my ramblings?
Stay safe, everyone!
