jose riza

About a week ago, it has been featured on the different news agency about a manga that features my country’s national hero, Jose Rizal. Here’s the summary as taken from MANGA.CLUB website:

In the land now known as the Philippines, there was a time when colonial Spain ruled for more than 300 years. During a period when native Filipinos once called Indios were oppressed, exploited, and stripped of their human rights, Jose Rizal was born on the outskirts of Manila.

“What does it mean to be a Filipino?”
“Is it possible to incite change through knowledge and not violence?”
He thought of those every day.

A doctor, novelist, and a painter who can speak 15 languages, Jose Rizal is a legendary figure who brought about national revolution through one epic novel!

The first chapter is now available on the website. You can read it for free. Click here.  The chapters are updated every Tuesday.

Nakakaproud! June 19 is the perfect day to release this!

MANGA.CLUB offers their manga in bilingual format, meaning it is available in both English and Japanese. The site is also available worldwide so it’s not just Filipinos who would be able to read this, but a lot of people in every part of the world. Through this, people who haven’t heard or never knew Rizal’s story. Also, I think this is a great way to inform the Filipino youth about our national hero in an entertaining way.

I enjoyed reading the first chapter. It’s only part 1 though so it is pretty short. Can’t wait to read the succeeding chapters. Though I wonder until which part of Rizal’s life will be covered in the manga?
