[Webnovel] Heroic Death System Part 2

In case you haven’t read yet, you may want to check out the previous post about Heroic Death System here where I talked about my general thoughts about the novel. Meanwhile, this post contains my thoughts about the individual worlds in the series.

Heroic Death System has 16 worlds (17 if you include the last known reincarnation cycle), 10 of which have redo arcs. Redo arcs have a chapter showing what happened once Shang Ke died and the rest is when he has a second chance to do the world.

From Novel Updates:

“I curse you to never die in peace!”

Thus, Shang Ke started a never-ending (forced) cycle of constantly throwing away his miserable life.

He would always show himself as a martyr while letting others cry over his death.

It was because of a woman’s curse that Shang Ke was hit by a car and turned into a human vegetable. This led to him becoming bound by an unlucky system in which he was cursed to die. The most unfortunate part was that he never cheated on anyone’s feelings. The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

It’s HE.

MTL-ing this fried my brain cells but it was worth it!

[Novel] S 3: Split (エス 3: 裂罅 )

Svol3-cvr-15mmspine

Synopsis: (From the back of the book)

Undercover detective Msaki Shiiba has one mission in life – to eradicate guns in Japan. It’s an overwhelmingly tough job, but Shiiba’s willing to give up his body, his soul, even his life to achieve his goal. He’s also willing to use anyone to get what he wants.

For almost a year now, Shiiba has been using Keigo Munechika as his “S,” his spy, to get information on the gun dealings of the Yakuza world. Shiiba uses his body in exchange for Munechika’s sensitive information… and only his body as far as Shiiba is concerned. Shiiba vows their relationship will not go beyond that.

A new case and some new information further complicate this difficult relationship. When a rowdy young man with a penchant for piercing and an enigmatic Yakuza leader cross paths with the young detective, sins of hte past are unearthed once more. Sins— sins that just might shatter the fragile bond between the detective and his “S.”

[Novel] S 2: Love Bite (エス 2: 咬痕)

Svol2-cvr-13mmspine

Synopsis: (From the back of the book)

Detective Masaki Shiiba’s informant or “S,” Keigo Munechika, has proven himself to be an excellent source of information. But the payment of sex for every lead given is taking its toll on Shiiba. Each moment in Munechika’s arms is both heaven and hell for the detective.

But with his new assignment as back-up to a fellow undercover detective, Shiiba learns that there are far worse things than having sex with your male S — falling helplessly in love with him, for example.

S volume 2 continues the drama and passion between a detective and his spy set in the hihgly-charged underground world of Tokyo.

So after how many years, I started reading the S series again. It’s been four years since I’ve read the first volume so I had to re-read book one first.

Updated posts: Scum Villain, MDZS, and TGCF

I’ve caught up with Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s works! Woot!

I’m done reading the MTL and now, I’ve also caught up to the recently translated chapters of all three novels. That includes the extras as well. In case you’re wondering why I’m still following the translations, it’s because I feel like I’ve missed a lot of finer details (and names!) in MTL.

While SV was a little easier to read via MTL (mainly because I only have to read a couple more chapters before the end), MDZS and TGCF were downright difficult. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but the names screwed me up every single time.

If you have the time or suffering from withdrawal symptoms like me, you could check out Yume-chan’s fan song translation posts. The songs are wonderful and the PVs… my gosh, the PVs! They are freaking amazing! Some videos are just… wow.

With that said, I’ve updated my posts with my after-thoughts. Check them out on the links below:
