You woke up in a familiar world with four equally familiar faces staring back at you. Why, you are inside the game you used to play entitled Unlimited Quest! o/ These guys are the characters from the game and they are holding grudges against you. Thanks to you they have become warped!

Supposedly, I will wait until all the CDs have been released before playing this. I forgot about that the moment I read some reviews about this and made sure to play this game A S A P! lol

This is a 3-part segmented game and Densetsu Otome is the first part of the series. Each game features four guys you can go after. In this one, you have the Hero, Wizard, Priest, and Thief.

The game has a very straight-forward plot albeit short. It is basically “You” going on a quest with the party. The quest also meant that you are going to your chosen guy’s route. Each guy has 2 endings: Normal and Best end. The former is when you stayed in their world. Meanwhile, the latter is the guy going over to your world with you. There is also a — hmm how do you call this, common end? You get this end when you don’t raise any of the guys’ affection above 50. 51+ points will lead you to either end mentioned above.

There is no narration other than the guy’s narration in the Best end. The heroine doesn’t have any lines other than “x x x x” or “////” or something like the one above. It is supposed to be you, the player anyway. Even so, I still find her reactions hilarious. xD

The art is really good and lively. It has a very rich coloring that makes the game even more attracting. Though there are CGs where they are not successful in hiding our eyeless heroine. Some angles are a little awkward, while some are pretty good. I just hoped they showed more of the guys in their casual clothes (っ’з’)っ. The sound is, now, they did bring up the classic RPG feels. Though sadly I don’t remember them that much now.

I rarely comment on the voice acting but the voice actors did a really great job in voicing their characters. Not that I’m saying that they are not good in their other roles but in Dot Kare, they are able to give vibrant personality to their respective roles. Everyone is deadly in their low-range voice. Also, their exchange of banter makes the dialogues and the entirety of the game more enjoyable. There is drama CD included in the game so be sure to listen to it! (*´ο`*)

The characters, oh how I love them so much. They are all funny, adorable perverts who wastes no time in publicly flirting with the heroine. My favorite character…now that’s tough. I can’t choose between Hero and Priest though I definitely love the flirty side of Thief and Wizard’s…laughter of despair. ( ゚∀゚)アハハ八八ノヽノヽノヽノ \ / \/ \

I started with Thief, thinking that I wouldn’t like him but boy I was so wrong. www

He is 19 years old who specializes in, of course, thieving and perception skills. With his skills maxed out, he believes that he can steal anything. Though he becomes uninterested to whatever he stole once he obtained it since he only loves the thrill he gets in the act of stealing. Now, he is more concerned with stealing your heart. (ღˇ◡ˇ)~♥

Thief is a big flirt and loves showering you with kisses. Thief is cute when he is being playful but he can also be cool and sexy especially that scene in the inn (the one above). ♡♥(。´▽`。)♥♡

His quest is actually interesting. I always liked it when you have to search for hidden doors, traps, etc. wwww

My not-so-favorite character in the game…until I finished his route. 8D

It’s like he is thinking of 1001 ways to push you down (///u///)

Wizard is 19 years old as well. He studies and researches a lot. Here I am thinking that he is a cool, calm, and collected Wizard but noooo he is just as perverted like the rest of the members lmao. He makes “rational” reasons to do questionable things to the heroine. With that serious personality, I thought he will be the one who reprimands the other members but of course not, he joins the fun. o/

He is so bitter about everything and I am enjoying it. AHAHAHA. I used to like mages because of their magic spell and whatnots but I agree that the effects take so long that it becomes boring after a while. lol Besides, he thinks that people can’t see his face because of his magician’s hat that he has to wear. (´∀`)

This priest is 24 years old. He is a pure and noble person who helps anyone in need…or not 8D. Priest is a DoS character but he is more of a lazy ass to me lol. As much as possible he avoids doing troublesome things and wouldn’t heal anyone unless you beg for him on your knees. Being the healer of the party, he doesn’t let anybody die nor take a rest neither. www

“He is pure and noble person…” pffft with Priest’s perverted ways, he is nowhere near the path of purity. He even flirts with the heroine in the middle of a battle. xD

The legendary hero of the game, 17 years old. I was surprised when I first learned that he is the youngest among them considering how perverted he is. (* ̄∇ ̄*) Anyway, he used to be the valiant hero but thanks to you, he developed some nasty habits like breaking into someone else’s house, destroying pots etc (that I am very guilty xD). More so, he is angry for giving him a nickname “Takuan” or pickled radish while everybody retains their names. But Yuusha that name is actually cu– |D.

While Yuusha’s hair color is one factor of liking him, another one is Namikawa’s voice. I swear it is so deadly; his track on the drama CD is my favorite as well. (*´Д`)ハァハァ

Wrapping Up!

This is such a fun and enjoyable game to play. It is short so it is good to fill up your time. I hoped there is more about the characters but given the length of the game plus being originally and 8-bit characters, there is nothing more to them than just characters. Can’t wait for Dot Kare II! Wanna play that DoM knight~~

  1. AHHH! I saw the mage and just died inside. hahah. ; ; I gotta thank you for this post! I forgot about this game until I was going through your posts! So glad there is more info out now. haha -stares at the pretty guys-
    Ugh. I wanna play this game too now. + +

    1. You’re welcome! ^_^
      I hope you can play this wonderful game too esp. now that the 2nd game is about to be released this month. 😀

  2. Hello ^^
    Maybe it’s a little late but I would like to know how to install the game on my computer because I don´t understand how to do it :S
    Thanks in advance

    1. Have you set your, how do people call it, language locale? Anyway, I think changing it to Japanese is the first step. ^^ But since, I think you are already past that, you might be asking about the installation process, yes? I can’t really remember the installation but if there’s a choice, always choose the one on the left side. The right side/choice usually says ‘キャンセル’ (cancel). Just let it install after that.

      I hope that helps! If you have any more questions, just leave a comment. 😀

  3. Thanks for the help ^^
    I was able to install the game but when I want to open says there is an error TwT

  4. Sure ^^
    When I click the icon to open the game appears this:
    (I have the computer set to Japanese language but I don´t understand why it appears like that xD)
    then when I click “accept” the game screen is blank

      1. No worries. I was able to see it anyway.

        So I lurked around and tinkered with this and that… and still couldn’t find the source of the problem. ;A;
        I’m sorry dear. I don’t think I can help you with this one. TuT

  5. H-Hello I hope you dont mind me asking but ..is there a free download for the full version other than the demo ..? I really wanna play this game ; A ;..

  6. Hello.
    Could you help me, please?
    When I try to start the game, I get an error message: “Error Message: input stream error. Error Code: 8”
    Thank you.

    1. I’m not really sure I could help you with this one. ^^;;; It seems that your computer is having a problem running the software. I tried looking around the net but didn’t find the solution. Maybe try reinstalling and make sure that your settings fit the requirements?

  7. I have a problem. When installing any of the Dot Kareshi games, everything works, but the dialogue box is completely empty. Even when I patched the first game (the only one so far to be translated), everything else was translated, like the options screen, but, still, there were no words on the dialogue box. Can you please help me? I am seriously confused about this.

    1. Someone commented about changing the locale of your computer to Japanese. Have you done that? Maybe that’s the reason why the texts aren’t showing up since there’s no problem with the installing. If it still doesn’t show, maybe the translators can help you about that? I’m sorry I can’t really help. ;;;;

    2. On the English patch that I used in order to play the game. The translator said that I had to install the font provided. If you got the patch from Golden Spirit, then just double click the ‘.ttf'(that should be the font file) and it will should pop up with a Window. In the Window you will see “the quick brown fox…” all over the page. And at the top should be an install button.

      1. I’m assuming you’re playing the patch? If so, try contacting the translators about it. Maybe they could help more than I do. ^^;;;
