[First Impressions] Taishou Mebiusline Vitable

So my curiosity won over and I finally started Taishou Mebiusline! I guess, I really love to torture myself by playing games set in the old times. www

Taishou Mebiusline

Set in the Taishou Period, Hiiragi Kyouichirou leaves his hometown to study in the Imperial University. He brings a special katana in which his father said as something that will protect him.

Kyou has an ability to see the spirit of dead people. When he arrived in the capital, he got caught up with different people having the same ability as him. But they all use it for different reasons. Kyou, then, decides to get to the bottom of the mess he has gotten himself in.

One of my concerns before starting the game is the language. It is crazy difficult lol. It is easy to be put off by the words used since even the commonly used words are written in kanji. For example, instead of writing うるさい, the writers used 煩い instead.

The key here is to read slowly. If you can’t read the compound kanji right away, take the meaning of the kanji and consider the context to have an idea of the meaning. The most important part is to pray (or wish or cross fingers, up to you) that one of the characters will say it out loud www. Because most of the time, the spoken word is a lot easier to understand than the written one. So relying on the spoken dialogues is a big help. I know I do.

Despite the language and all the difficult topics discussed in this game, I am enjoying the story. Obviously, I want to know the grand scheme of things. In particular, I want to know the role of each character and how everything ties to the True end.

Also, I found my favorite character right away! Two actually. First is Kyouichirou. He looks so prim and proper to the point of being stubborn. Noblesse oblige and all. His voice is also very smooooooth. Next one is Misaki. He’s such a fun and adorable character. His appearance screams vagabond – the kind that you should avoid in the streets. But he is such a sweetheart when it comes to Kyou. I love love love his flirty attitude towards our protagonist.

I love the bgms too! Especially the ones during fighting scenes. It’s like it is urging me to read more more more.

As for my playthrough, I’m going to play this in this order: Shigure -> Tatebayashi -> Senge -> Misaki. I’m still in the middle of playing Shigure’s route though I think it might take some time to finish it with Hakuoki and all.
