Hashihime of the Old Book Town Walkthrough

null

I created this as a personal reference, and after I finished the game, I thought, why not post this too. This, I believe, is a spoiler-free guide so you don’t have to worry about anything that might spoil the story for you.

Unlike most VNs, the only branching point in Hashihime is when you choose which guy you should go after. There is only 1 end for each character. Whether those ends are good or bad, depends on you, as I thought all the ends are good and fitting to the circumstances and personalities of the characters.

Also, please note that you can’t really choose your route order as there is a specific order you have to go through. Say, you can’t go to Hanazawa’s route unless you finish Minakami and Kawase’s. Also, you can’t force it since the choices only come up after finishing the required routes.

Here goes~

✯Verdict✯

A MUST PLAY

Recommended for: Everyone

Obviously for BL fans, but also, for people who like a bit of mystery, a bit of thriller, a bit of drama, lots of bizarre events, and a damn good story littered with flawed but lovable characters.

Though, there are some fair warnings in the game which you should also need to check out after the cut.

Read below why you should or should not play this game.

Just a heads up before we continue. I’ve already played and finished a route in Japanese before. You can say that I’m already spoiled but it’s been almost two years already since the last time I played so my memory’s fuzzy so what I have is only the general idea of things.

I’m so so glad that this has been translated! I loved Hashihime but the characters used in the Japanese version where old given the time period, not to mention the literary titles and authors that popped out every now and then that makes my head 😵. I feel like I missed a lot of details and I couldn’t shake off that FOMO feels so I stopped playing this before. But now it’s finally here! Yasss!!

[Game] Oninaki Demo

鬼ノ哭ク邦 | Oninaki

Publisher: Square Enix

Developer: Tokyo RPG Factory

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC (Steam)

Category: Action, Adventure, RPG

Release Date: August 22, 2019

Official Sites: JP, EN

Summary from Official Website:

Reincarnation is the foundation of our way of life. We celebrate the lives we’ve been given, and offer up prayers for the next.

It is grief of death which shackles the living, and causes the dead to stray. Indeed, there is no greater affront to reincarnation.

So do we turn our grief to joy as we send off the dead.

But the souls of those who held back their tears in life still need salvation in death. A duty that falls to the Watchers.

Their task is to guide the wandering souls known as the Lost, and serve as keepers of the Living World and the Beyond.

The Watchers sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world, and send them on to the next. They navigate the emotions of the living and the dead. They prize life above all else.

This is the story of one Watcher.

So I was wandering around the Nintendo Eshop when I came across the demo for Oninaki. I think the two games that I kept on hearing about lately were either Astral Chain or Oninaki. Between the two, I’m more interested in the former than the latter. Anyways, even if I’m interested with Astral Chain, it didn’t have a demo available so I tried Oninaki instead.

Just so we’re clear, this post will be about the demo version of Oninaki for Nintendo Switch.

Walkthrough used: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1122528878

In a nutshell

In the hopes of finding her father, Chizuru goes to Kyoto to search for him. Instead, she finds the Shinsengumi. Shinsengumi members are a bunch of guys who protect the city but is also feared by the people. However, these guys are searching for her father as well. So together, they search for Chizuru’s father while she stays with them.

I was really hesitant to play this game since I felt like there was so much to catch up on, what’s with the long line of Hakuoki titles. Even with the two new titles, it was hard for me to know what was the difference between Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms. But my curiosity won and I’m so glad I played the game.

Taishou Mebiusline – Tatebayashi Kai

Taishou Mebiusline - Tatebayashi Kai

I was excited to play Tatebayashi’s route when I started the game. Just look at him looking like the knight-in-shining-armor. Character design-wise, he is more of my go-to favorite character.

However, after Shigure, I’ve gotten attached to the Gohongatana group. I loved the chemistry Shigure and Kyou have as partners in everything. I was afraid that Tatebayashi’s side of the story might not be as interesting as Shigure’s. But it proved that that is not the case. It was interesting but not because of Tatebayashi.

[Scribbles] I Switched!

I know the title’s lame (haha) BUT I got myself a Nintendo Switch!

nintendo switch

Earlier this year, I was debating with myself whether I should get a PS4 or a Nintendo Switch. There were nice games on both consoles but I was leaning towards PS4 *coughcheapercough*. Then Otomate announced the “switch” to Switch and that pretty much nailed my decision to get it.
